MANILA, Philippines – Inatasan ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mga regional director at police commanders na palakasin ang koordinasyon sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa pagpapaigting ng operasyon laban sa illegal logging at mining.
Ito ay kasunod ng pagkakaaresto ng tatlong indibidwal dahil sa illegal mining activities na nakasira ng kalikasan sa Barangay Bahi in Barobo, Surigao del Sur.
Ayon kay PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., ang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan at lokal na komunidad sa pagprotekta sa kalikasan ay naaayon sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
“Environmental protection is not the task of the DENR alone. It requires strong coordination among government agencies and alliance with the people that is anchored on trust and commitment to protect their community,” saad sa kalatas nitong Linggo, Hunyo 28.
“The arrest of these three illegal miners is proof of that strong coordination and alliance with the community. And we intend to keep it that way.”
Nakuha mula sa mga suspek ang P5 milyong halaga ng kagamitan kabilang ang water pump at backhoe.
Naka-detain na ang mga naarestong minero sa Barobo Municipal Police Station at nahaharap sa reklamong paglabag sa Philippine Mining Act of 1995. RNT/JGC
