MANILA, Philippines – PINABULAANAN ng Malakanyang ang ulat na pakikialaman ng executive branch at iimpluwensiyahan ang judiciary sa plunder case laban kay Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.
Ayon kay Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, ginagalang ng administrasyong Marcos ang
‘separation of powers’ ng executive at judicial branch. Wala aniyang dahilan para makialam ang ehekutibong sangay ng pamahalaan sa judicial proceedings.
“First of all, we have the separation of powers. If Sen. Rodante Marcoleta has strong evidence, he can defend his case,” ayon kay Castro.
“There will be no interference, no strong-arming, and no pressure from the executive. The executive branch and the president respect the decisions of the courts,” aniya pa rin.
Nauna rito, nagpahayag ng pag-aalala ang mga miyembro ng Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) sa posibilidad na hindi maging patas ang korte sa paghawak ng kaso laban kay Marcoleta.
Nauna rito, pormal nang nagsampa ng kasong plunder ang Office of the Ombudsman laban kay Sen. Rodante Marcoleta sa Sandiganbayan kaugnay ng umano’y hindi idineklarang P75 milyong campaign donations, araw ng Biyernes, July 3.
Kasama ring kinasuhan sina dating kongresista Mike Defensor at mga negosyanteng sina Joseph Varias Espiritu at Aristotle Baluyut Viray, na sinasabing nagbigay ng naturang donasyon.
Ayon sa Ombudsman, hindi umano isinama ang P75 milyon sa Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) at Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) ni Marcoleta.
Lumalagpas din umano ang halaga sa P50 milyong threshold para sa kasong plunder sa ilalim ng Republic Act 7080.
“Let us not immediately cast doubt on whatever decision the court may reach. We are not yet at that stage. The case has only been filed before the Sandiganbayan. It is not right to tarnish our courts and our justice system.,” ayon kay Castro.
Gayundin, sinabi ni Castro na hindi na inaasahan pa ng administrasyon na magsasagawa pa ng panibagong “surprise rally” ang INC kasunod ng paghahain ng plunder case laban kay Marcoleta.
“If that happens, it would be as if they were dictating to the investigating bodies and even to the executive branch how they should act based on what they want,” aniya pa rin.
Tiniyak naman ni Castro na hindi magpapadala ang administrasyong Marcos sa presyur ng anumang grupo. KRIS JOSE
