MANILA, Philippines – Inihayag ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na bilang paggalang sa impeachment court ay hindi muna ito magkokomento sa mga usapin na binabanggit o may kaugnayan sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.
Inilabas ni Justice spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez ang pahayag kaugnay sa naging pahayag at katanungan ni Senator Erwin Tulfo nitong Lunes sa pagdinig sa impeachment trial ni VP Sara kay NBI Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc.
“Out of respect for, and in deference to, the impeachment court, the Department will refrain from commenting on matters raised in or relating to those proceedings,” sabi ni Martinez.
Tanong ni Sen. Tulfo kay Lotoc bilang testigo ng prosecution kung bakit tumagal ang preliminary investigation ng DOJ sa umano’y pagbabanta ni VP Sara laban kay Pangulong President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“One year preliminary. One year. Over one year. January to January is one. February, March, April, May, June, July. Is it normal for the DOJ to conduct a preliminary about over a year? Mr. Witness?” sabi ni Sen. Tulfo na sinagot naman ni Lotoc na tanging ang justice department lamang ang makakasagot nito.
Ayon kay Martinez, sa usapin ng reklamo laban kay VP Sara, ipinababatid ng Kagawaran sa publiko na kasalukuyang pa rin itong iniimbestigahan.
Aaksyunan at reresolbahin aniya ng Kagawaran ang reklamo sa tamang panahon at alinsunod sa due process.
“As to the substantive matter of the complaint against VP Sara Duterte, the Department informs the public that the complaint remains under investigation.”
