MANILA, Philippines — Bumabalangkas ang Department of Energy (DOE) ng isang circular upang matiyak ang sapat na suplay ng kuryente para sa planong US-led Pax Silica technology hub sa New Clark City, Tarlac.
Ayon kay Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, pinag-aaralan ng mga awtoridad ang iba’t ibang opsyon, kabilang ang mga renewable energy project na itatayo sa Central Luzon, upang matugunan ang malaking pangangailangan ng hub nang hindi naaapektuhan ang suplay ng kuryente sa ibang bahagi ng bansa.
“There are several options,” sinabi ni Garin, at idinagdag na kaya umanong tustusan ang pangangailangan ng proyekto mula 50 megawatts hanggang 5,000 MW.
“But we just need to make sure that anything we do — power, data center, or hub — will not put the rest of the country at a disadvantage,” dagdag niya.
Layunin ng Pax Silica na gawing mahalagang bahagi ang Pilipinas ng pandaigdigang artificial intelligence at technology value chain.
Sinabi naman ni DOE Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevarra na kailangang matukoy muna kung aling mga interesadong power company ang maaaring magtayo ng embedded generation upang makalikha ng kuryente malapit sa lugar ng proyekto.
“You will not need to transmit it from a faraway place,” pahayag ni Guevarra.
Kailangan din umanong alamin ang taunang timeline ng karagdagang power capacity ng hub upang matukoy ang kinakailangang generation, transmission, at distribution infrastructure.
“At the end of the day, the bottom line is that we need to be able to secure the commitment of these locators in Pax Silica because any generator to put up a plant will need 20 years to recover the cost of their investment,” dagdag niya.
Itinampok ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang proyekto sa kanyang ikalimang State of the Nation Address noong Lunes, at sinabing ito ay “will bring quality jobs to our people, accelerate our industrial competitiveness, and revitalize our economy.”
“As a strategic component of the Luzon Economic Corridor, the hub will be an advanced manufacturing and logistics center in the global AI and technology value chain,” pahayag ni Marcos. Kris Jose
