THE HAGUE, Netherlands – Iginiit ng International Criminal Court (ICC) na ito ay isang malaya at walang kinikilingang internasyonal na hukuman, matapos sabihin ni Vice President Sara Duterte na ang kaso ng kanyang amang si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ay umusad lamang dahil ang ICC ay “lapdog” o “tuta” ng kanilang mga kalaban sa politika.
“ICC is an international judicial institution which carries out its mandate independently and impartially, in accordance with its founding treaty, the Rome Statute,” saad ng ICC spokesperson na si Oriane Maillet.
Habang nasa The Hague, Netherlands, muling binatikos ni Sara Duterte ang ICC at sinabing ito ay “tuta” o “puppet” nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at dating Senador Antonio Trillanes IV.
“Yes, they are traitors to a Filipino and to the country. But more than that, the ICC is a lapdog of Trillanes and Marcos. That’s it,” saad pa ni Duterte.
“He (former President Duterte) is the poster boy right now of ICC. The one and only. ‘Oh, we have an Asian now. We’re done with the Blacks. Let’s go to the Asians. To hell with the Whites. We cannot go after them? Let’s go after this one person who was delivered by Marcos to us,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Sara, ipinagpapatuloy ng ICC ang paglilitis sa kanyang ama dahil wala na umano itong ibang aktibong kaso. Ngunit nilinaw na ang ICC ay may hindi bababa sa pitong akusadong nasa kustodiya, kabilang si Rodrigo Duterte.
Magsisimula ang paglilitis kay Rodrigo Duterte sa Nobyembre 30 kaugnay ng 78 pagkamatay na iniuugnay sa kanyang kampanya kontra droga.
Tumugon si Trillanes at sinabi: “Sara has truly lost her mind. The ICC is no one’s puppet. Digong’s (Rodrigo Duterte’s) case before the ICC is the result of an in-depth investigation that spanned several years. Furthermore, we Filipinos know that the thousands of killings actually took place due to Digong’s war on drugs policy.”
Sinabi rin ng human rights lawyer na si Gilbert Andres na “VP Sara is forgetting that the victims of Mr. Duterte’s war on drugs are crying out for justice, truth and accountability, so let’s respect the process of the ICC.”
Samantala, sinabi ni Sara na maayos ang kalagayan ng kanyang 81-anyos na ama, maliban sa isang problema sa balat na kasalukuyang ginagamot sa detention center. RNT/MDS
