MANILA, Philippines – Nagpaalala ang Department of Education (DepEd) nitong Martes, Agosto 12 sa mga guro na maging propesyonal sa paggamit ng social media.
“The use of personal social media accounts does not, by itself, dispense with the professional and ethical standards applicable to DepEd personnel, particularly where the content is connected with the performance of their official functions, identifies or represents them as DepEd personnel, or involves learners, school activities, or school premises,” sinabi ni DepEd Undersecretary Fatima Panontongan sa memorandum na may petsang Agosto 11.
“All DepEd personnel are expected to exercise professionalism, prudence, and sound judgment in their online activities,” dagdag sa circular.
Wala namang tinukoy na insidente ang ahensya para sa ganitong memorandum ngunit sinabi na nakatanggap ito ng mga report ng social media posts sangkot ang mga guro at school personnel na hindi naaayon sa standards of professionalism ng DepEd.
“These reports highlight the need to exercise appropriate judgment and responsibility in the use of social media, particularly where online activities involve learners, classroom activities, school premises, or otherwise arise from the performance of official functions,” ayon sa DepEd.
Ang mga guro na nakikipag-usap naman sa mga estudyante ay hinimok na maging maingat kapag ipo-post ang mga gawa sangkot ang kanilang mga mag-aaral lalo na’t ang educators ang may authority sa mga ito.
Nagpaalala rin ang ahensya sa mga guro na “not unduly post online attacks against fellow DepEd employees.”
“While discussions of current events and public matters may serve legitimate educational purposes, personnel should refrain from repurposing such activities or learners’ participation for personal social media content in a manner that may compromise their professional responsibilities or expose learners to unwarranted public scrutiny, ridicule, harassment, or controversy,” sinabi pa ng DepEd.
