MANILA, Philippines – Tinambangan ng mga armadong suspek ang convoy ni Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua nitong hapon ng Sabado, Agosto 15 sa Barangay Dulangan, Datu Odin Sinsuat.
Pinaulanan ng bala ng baril ang tatlong sasakyan sa convoy ni Macacua.
Sa kabutihang palad ay ligtas ang lahat ng mga sakay nito at walang nasaktan.
Si Macacua ay bumibiyahe mula sa kanyang hometown sa Barangay Gambar, Mother Kabuntalan, para dumalo ng proclamation rally ng Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP), ang partido na kanyang nilahukan kung saan siya ay pinangalanang chairman matapos tumakbo bilang independent candidate sa 3rd district ng probinsya.
Dahil dito ay pinaigting ang seguridad sa Bangsamoro Government Center at nagsasagawa na ng follow-up operations ang mga awtoridad.
Tinawag naman ni Macacua ang pag-atake bilang “cowardly act.”
“While the heavy responsibility of public office carries inherent security risks, it is deeply heartbreaking that any individual or group would resort to violence to inflict harm,” saad sa pahayag ni Macacua.
Aniya, ang pag-atake ay hindi magpapaantala sa layunin ng pamahalaan sa democratic progress, kabilang ang pagsasagawa ng kauna-unahang parliamentary elections sa susunod na buwan.
“It strengthens our determination to ensure that the voice of the people, rather than the force of arms, dictates the future of our region,” dagdag pa niya.
“The solemn vow I took to serve the Bangsamoro people remains unshaken, and my commitment to this mission is as firm as ever,” ani Macacua.
Inatasan na rin ni Commission on Elections Chairperson George Erwin Garcia ang Philippine National Police at Armed Forces of the Philippines na “immediately determine the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
“Whether this is election related or not, the maintenance of peace and order in the area is of utmost importance. No stone should be left untouched just to ensure that the trust and confidence of the people will remain. However, respect for constitutional rights is paramount to ensure the rule of law,” sinabi ni Garcia. RNT/JGC
