MANILA, Philippines – Naibulgar ng pamamaril sa loob ng Ateneo de Zamboanga University junior high school campus ang mas malalim na puwang sa kaligtasan at proteksiyon ng mag-aaral na dapat nang kilusan ng pamahalaan.
Sa ginanap na pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality nitong Huwebes, sinabi ni Go na nakakapanlumo ang trahedya na tila isang babala sa mas mabilisang kilos.
“These heartbreaking tragedies are warning signs that demand our immediate attention. They expose deeper gaps in school safety, child protection, mental health, and responsible firearm ownership. These are gaps that we can no longer afford to ignore,” ani Go sa pagdinig nitong August 20, 2026.
Binanggit din ni Go ang maikling agwat ng pamamaril sa Zamboanga na hindi hihigit sa dalawang buwan sa malagim na insidente sa Tacloban City na mayroon din na namatay.
“The Zamboanga shooting came less than two months after the fatal shooting in Tacloban, saying the incidents have left students, parents and entire communities traumatized,” aniya.
“The repeated attacks raise concerns not only about peace and order but also about youth welfare, public health and the education system,” dagdag ng senador.
Base sa datos ng Department of Education, nakita ni Go na umabot nasa 36 porsiyento ng kabuuang bilang ng paaralan sa buong bansa ang na tumutupad sa pangunahing hakbang sa seguridad.
Ngunit, aniya, aabot lamang sa apat mula sa 10 paaralan ang may closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs), habang 10 ang may metal detectors.
