MANILA, Philippines – Ipinagpaliban ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang nationwide Simultaneous School Safety Drill for Active Attack Incidents nito sanhi ng masamang panahon at kanselasyon ng face-to-face classes sa ilang lugar.
Ang drill, orihinal na iniskedyul araw ng Martes, Agosto 25, sa halip ay isasagawa sa unang linggo ng Setyembre 2026.
“[This is] in view of the prevailing inclement weather and the cancellation of face-to-face classes in several areas,” ayon sa DepEd.
Tinuran pa ng DepEd na ang suspensyon ay magbibigay din sa departamento ng karagdagang oras upang matiyak na ang aktibidad ay ganap na nakaayon kasama ang rekumendasyon ng panahon, disaster preparedness, child protection at psychosocial support experts.
Tiniyak din nito sa publiko na ang rescheduled activity ay mananatiling age-appropriate at trauma-informed, nakatutok sa pangunahing ‘protective actions, communication, coordination, accountability, at recovery.’
Sinabihan naman ang mga eskuwelahan na iwasan ang hyper-realistic o graphic simulations na maaaring magdulot ng hindi kinakailangang pangamba o distress.
Sa kabilang dako, inatasan naman ang mga DepEd regional directors na makipag-ugnayans a Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection at iba pang kaugnay na mga katapat.
“Schools are likewise reminded to ensure the availability of Psychological First Aid and appropriate psychosocial support under their School Contingency Plans,” ayon sa DepEd. (KRIS JOSE)
