MANILA, Philippines – Nagpakawala na ng tubig ang Ipo Dam sa Norzagaray, Bulacan dahil sa tuloy-tuloy na malalakas na pag-ulan dala ng Habagat.
Kinumpirma ng Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office ang pagpapakawala ng tubig alas-9 ng gabi nitong Biyernes, Agosto 28.
“The initial operation will involve the opening of Radial Gate A by 15 centimeters, equivalent to an estimated spill of 35 cubic meters per second (cms),” saad sa pahayag ni Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Bernardo Alejandro IV.
“This is due to the continuous rise in the dam’s water level brought about by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat),” dagdag pa.
Hanggang alas-8 ng gabi ng Biyernes, ang lebel ng Ipo Dam ay umabot na sa 101.17 metro, o 0.07 metro na mas mataas sa normal high water level nito na 101.10 metro.
Inabisuhan na ang mga lokal na pamahalaan ng Angat, Bustos, San Rafael, Baliwag, Plaridel, Pulilan, Calumpit, Paombong, Hagonoy, at Malolos City para sa nararapat na aksyon.
“Everyone is advised to remain alert, monitor official updates, and take the necessary precautionary measures, particularly those in low-lying and flood-prone areas,” aniya.
Maaaring magpatuloy ang pagpapakawala ng tubig sa Ipo Dam kung magtutuloy-tuloy ang mga pag-ulan.
Kung humina naman ay maaari na ring isara ang gate.
“There is a possibility because it is still raining over the Ipo Dam watershed. So, it is possible that more gates may be opened,” ayon kay PAGASA hydrologist Richard Orendain. RNT/JGC
