MANILA, Philippines – Naka-red alert ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sa matagal na epekto ng Habagat sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas.
Ang alert status ay pagtugon sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum 237, series of 2026, na nagtataas ng national alert status mula blue patungong red nitong Biyernes ng hapon, Agosto 28.
Siniguro naman ni Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao ng Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) ng DSWD sa publiko na patuloy na naghahanda ang ahensya sa posibleng epekto ng matagal na mga pag-ulan at pagbaha.
“We continue to be ready because of the continuous effects of the habagat in several areas of Luzon and the Visayas. Our field offices are on heightened alert, and our relief resources are ready so we can immediately respond to the needs of our countrymen when needed,” saad sa pahayag ng DSWD spokesperson nitong Sabado, Agosto 29.
Sa huling report ng Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Communication (DROMIC), ang DSWD ay mayroong 3.4 milyong family food packs ang nakahanda sa mga warehouse at iba pang strategic locations sa buong bansa.
May nakahanda rin ang DSWD Central Office na P558.77 milyon sa Quick Response Fund (QRF) bilang suporta sa agarang disaster response operations.
Nakikipag-ugnayan din ang DSWD field offices sa mga lokal na pamahalaan partikular sa mga lugar na nakararanas ng pagbaha, paglikas ng mga residente, at iba pang disaster-related incidents, para sa posibleng relief augmentation at pagbibigay ng technical assistance.
“We remind the public to be updated of official advisories from [the weather bureau] PAGASA and their local governments. We also encourage everyone to coordinate with their LGUs if they need to evacuate or for any emergency assistance,” paalala pa ni Dumlao. RNT/JGC
