MANILA, Philippines – Tatalakayin ng Senado ang isyu sa Pax Silica initiative sa pamamagitan ng Committee of the Whole, na magtitipon sa buong Mataas ng Kapulungan bilang isang panel para sa isang specific na issyu.
Nagmosyon si Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri na i-refer ang isyu ng Pax Silica sa Committee of the Whole kasabay ng sesyon ng Senado nitong Martes, Setyembre 8.
“So that all members can be represented. All Committee Chairs can be represented but you’re the presiding officer, Mister President,” ani Zubiri para kay Senate President Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian.
“And I think it would be best to show that we are serious either in support or we’re concerned about Pax Silica because it’s really a very, very important measure that needs to be given undue attention and the discussions will not be limited only to the environment and economic affairs,” dagdag pa niya.
Ang mga Vice Chair ng Committee of the Whole ay ang mga kasalukuyang chair ng Committee on Environment, Committee on Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs, Committee on Economic Affairs, at Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship.
Ito ay sina senador Raffy Tulfo, Robin Padilla, Risa Hontiveros, at Bam Aquino.
Si Zubiri naman ay magiging Vice Chair din bilang Chairman ng Committee on Foreign Relations.
Ani Gatchalian, ang naturang usapin ay urgent dahil ang proyekto ay nagpapatuloy na.
“I will heed to your suggestion. With that motion, is there any objection? Hearing none, the motion of the Majority Leader to create the Paxilica Committee of the Whole is approved,” sinabi ni Gatchalian.
Ang mga dating pagkakataon na nagtipon ang Senado bilang Committee of the Whole ay noong 2020 sa COVID-19 pandemic at sa agricultural smuggling noong 2022. RNT/JGC
