MANILA, Philippines – Ipinag-utos ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang lifetime ban sa drayber ng sasakyan na nakabangga sa 82-anyos na lola na tumatawid sa pedestrian lane sa Maharlika Highway sa Naga City nitong Lunes, Oktubre 5.
Ang biktima ay agad na isinugod sa Bicol Medical Center matapos magtamo ng serious physical injuries ngunit idineklarang dead on arrival.
“We cannot ignore an incident like this, especially when the victim is a pedestrian using a designated crosswalk,” sinabi ni LTO chief Markus Lacanilao.
“Our stance is clear that drivers who jeopardize the lives of other road users must be held accountable. In cases like this, we will strictly enforce the law and ensure proper accountability,” dagdag pa niya.
Inatasan na ang drayber na isuko ang lisensya nito sa LTO Regional Office V Intelligence and Investigation Unit.
Inilagay na rin sa alarma ang sangkot na sasakyan. RNT/JGC
