MANILA, Philippines – Nakahanda ang Senate impeachment court sa patuloy na pagbibigay ng “transparent, rules-based impartiality” sa impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte, kasunod ng pinakahuling survey ng Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Nakita kasi sa survey na 51% ng adult Filipinos ang sumasang-ayon sa desisyon ng Senado kung ang Bise Presidente man ay ma-acquit o maco-convict.
Samantala, 20% naman ang tutol, at 24% ang undecided.
Sinabi ni Impeachment court spokesperson Regie Tongol na nakikita nila ang bilang na “both quiet confidence in its even-handed procedure and a sober resolve to earn the trust of a cautious public.”
“Rather than treating these numbers with complacency, the Impeachment Court views the remaining undecided and skeptical segments of the public as a continuing challenge to demonstrate transparent, rules-based impartiality,” saad sa pahayag ni Tongol.
“As the proceedings resume on November 9, 2026, for the presentation of the Respondent’s
evidence on Article II, the Senate Impeachment Court will continue to enforce the rules of evidence and accord full due process to both sides, ensuring that its final constitutional judgment commands the respect of the entire nation,” dagdag pa niya.
Iginiit nito na bagamat tinatanggap ng korte ang pagiging tutok ng publiko sa impeachment trial, ang survey ay sukatan lamang para sa sentimyento ng publiko, habang ang senator-judges “are bound by oath to render judgment strictly on the basis of law and admissible evidence.”
Nakita rin sa kaparehong survey ng SWS na 35% ng adult Filipinos ay dissatisfied, habang 30% ang satisfied “that the prosecution of the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte is being done in a just manner.”
Isinagawa ang non-commissioned survey mula Setyembre 21 hanggang 27, 2026, gamit ang face-to-face interviews ng 1,500 adults edad 18 taong gulang at pataas sa buong bansa.
Ang sampling error margins ay ±3% para sa national percentages, ±4% para sa Balance Luzon, at tig-±6% para sa Metro Manila, the Visayas, at Mindanao. RNT/JGC
