MANILA, Philippines – PORMAL nang umupo si Lt. Gen. Donald Gumiran bilang bagong hepe ng Philippine Army (PA) at nangako na ita-transform ang serbisyo sa isang “future-ready force”.
Pinalitan ni Gumiran si dating PA chief then Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete na na-promote bilang ganap na general nang umupo na siya bilang chief of staff ng Armed Forces of Philippines (AFP) noong Hulyo 21.
Si Gumiran ay miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992 at nagsilbi bilang pinuno ng Western Mindanao Command at marami pang mahahalagang military posts bago pa umupong hepe ng PA.
Sa naging talumpati ni Gumiran sa Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, sinabi niya na layon niyang “build a stronger, more capable, and future-ready force.”
Nagpahayag din ito ng kahandaan na magbigay ng ‘leadership, guidance, at kaaya-ayang kapaligiran upang mangyari ito sa pamamagitan ng tinatawag niyang “S.T.R.O.N.G. Framework”.
“S” stands for stewardship or faithfully exercising leadership over the PA’s personnel, resources and the public entrusted to the Army; “T” stands for transformation and continuous modernization of PA personnel, capabilities, doctrines and systems to prevail in an increasingly complex and evolving operational environment; “R” is for readiness and maintaining a mission-ready, joint-ready and future-ready force, capable of defending the nation across the full spectrum of military operations.” ang paglalahad ni Gumiran.
“O” stands for organizational development and for building stronger institutions, developing competent leaders, and promoting a culture of professionalism., motivation, and excellence; “N” is for nation-building, contributing to national peace, security and development, and “G” is for God-fearing and anchoring PA personnel’s service on faith, integrity, humility, moral courage and unwavering commitment to God, Constitution and the Filipino people.” litaniya nito.
