MANILA, Philippines – Inaasahan ng Department of Health (DOH) ang pagtaas ng kaso ng leptospirosis matapos ang pananalasa ng habagat at tatlong tropical cyclone nitong mga nakaraang linggo.
Ang Leptospirosis ay isang impeksiyon na maaaring maipasa sa mga tao kung sila ay madikit sa tubig na kontaminado ng ihi ng mga nahawaang hayop.
Ayon sa pahayag ng DOH na inilabas noong Sabado, 569 na kaso ng leptospirosis ang naitala sa mga ospital sa buong bansa mula Hulyo 13 hanggang 31.
“In connection with the continuous rains caused by the tropical cyclones and the southwest monsoon last week, the DOH is on alert for the expected rise in leptospirosis cases in the country,” ayon sa DOH.
“Immediately wash your body after wading in floodwater. Monitor yourself for any symptoms. Even without symptoms, consult a doctor if you have gone into floodwater. Only take leptospirosis medicine if prescribed by your doctor,” pakiusap ng DOH sa publiko. RNT/MND
