MANILA, Philippines – Tuloy ang eleksyon sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections sa September 14, 2026.
Gayunman, hindi naman makapagbigay si Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro ng karagdagang detalye ukol sa kasalukuyang situwasyon na may kinalaman sa eleksyon.
“Hindi po ako makakapagbigay ng update sa ngayon dahil hindi po ako nabigyan ng anumang detalye but tuloy po ang eleksyon,” ayon kay Castro.
Nauna rito, nanawagan si Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento sa mga political parties at mga kandidato na tumulong na tiyakin na matagumpay na maidaraos ang makasaysayang Bangsamoro parliamentary elections sa Sept. 14.
“We appeal to all candidates and political parties to work toward a successful first parliamentary election in the BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), without undermining the right of the Bangsamoro electorate to freely participate in casting their votes,”ayon kay Sarmiento.
Si Sarmiento, kasalukuyang chair ng government’s Peace Implementing Panel with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), pinuri ang MILF para sa paglagda sa noong Aug. 31 ng Joint Pledge of Commitment upang tiyakin ang mapayapa, maayos at kapani-paniwalang first parliamentary elections sa Bangsamoro region.
Napagkayarian din ng mga partido ang Guidelines for Mutual Understanding sa pagitan ng Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities at Ad Hoc Joint Action Group ng gobyerno at MILF para gabayan ang govern ceasefire-related functions sa panahon ng nalalapit na eleksyon sa BARMM.
“The recent signing of these agreements underscores the serious commitment of the parties to protect and insulate the gains of the Bangsamoro Peace Process from any untoward election-related incidents,” ang tinuran ni Sarmiento.
Hinikayat din ni Sarmiento ang lahat ng mga political parties na mahigpit na sumundo sa kautusan at protocols na inilabas ng Commission on Elections, partikular na ang gun ban, (KRIS JOSE)
