MANILA, Philippines – MARIING pinabulaanan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines ang kumakalat na social media posts na nagbanta si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na aalisin ang pensiyon ng mga retiradong military personnel.
Sinabi ng AFP na ito’y “strongly condemns” ang kumakalat na “false and misleading content”.
“This claim is baseless, malicious, and intended to mislead,” ang sinabi sa kalatas ng AFP nitong weekend, tumutukoy sa isang social media post ni Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga.
“The AFP categorically states that there is no such directive, statement, or policy from the President or any government agency,” dagdag ng AFP.
Binigyang diin ng AFP na ganap na suportado nito ang mga ‘men and women in uniform’ at kabilang na rito ang proteksyunan at gawing sustainable ang kanilang pensiyon at benepisyo.
“Please note that the pension of a retired military personnel is protected under existing laws. It is considered an earned benefit resulting from at least 20 years of faithful, honorable, and dedicated service to the nation,” ang sinabi ng AFP.
Sinabi ng AFP na base sa batas, maaaring ma-forfeit ang isang retiradong sundalo kapag nahatulan sa isang krimen at matapos ang due process at final judgment ng isang karampatang hukuman.
