MANILA, Philippines – PINURI ng White House ang kontribusyon ng Filipino-Americans para sa kanilang bansa, kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng Filipino American History Month ngayong Oktubre.
“Filipinos and Filipino Americans have helped forge the very idea of America,” ang naka- post sa X (dating Twitter) ng White House, araw ng Lunes, Oktubre 2, (Manila time),
“This Filipino American History Month, the Biden-Harris Administration is proud to honor generations of Filipino Americans who have ensured our nation remains a land of hope, opportunity, and optimism,” ang makikita pa rin sa post.
Ang naturang post ay ibinahagi ng United States Embassy sa Maynila.
“This October, we honor generations of Filipino Americans who have helped shape the United States of America,” ayon sa post, gamit ang hashtag #MyFilAmStory.
Tinatayang may mahigit sa apat na milyong Filipino-Americans ang nasa Estados Unidos ngayon.
Binati rin ni US President Joe Biden ang Pilipinas para sa selebrasyon.
“To our Filipino American community: Thank you for all you do to ensure our nation continues to be the land of opportunity,” ani Biden.
Ayon naman sa website ng Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), ang Filipino-Americans ang ‘second-largest Asian American group’ sa bansa.
Samantala, kada sasapit ang buwan ng Oktubre, ipagdiriwang ng Estados Unidos ang Filipino-Americans habang ginugunita nito ang “the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States, which occurred on October 18, 1587.”
