MANILA, Philippines – Sa bisperas ng malawakang kilos-protesta, nanawagan si Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, pangulo ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), na panatilihin ang imbestigasyon laban sa korapsyon sa mga flood control at iba pang proyekto ng gobyerno.
“We will no longer accept that this investigation simply die a natural death like so many before it that eventually ended in political accommodations and compromises,” aniya.
Binigyang-diin niyang ang pagtitipon ay “hindi political spectacle kundi moral na paninindigan” at pagkakataon ng “panalangin, pagkakaisa, at pagkilos laban sa korapsyon.”
Nanawagan din siya sa mga kontraktor na “choose conversion, make restitution and repair the damage you have caused,” sabay paalala na “there can be no true peace without justice and no justice without repentance.”
Samantala, pinaalalahanan ng grupong Project Gunita ang publiko na huwag magpalinlang sa “historical distortion” ng mga Marcos at Duterte. “Both families exemplify plunder, impunity and abuse of government… The huge flood of protests in our streets should turn into a deluge of rejection against both families,” ayon sa grupo.
