MANILA, Philippines – Nagbabala nitong Huwebes si Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. sa mga content creator laban sa maling paggamit ng uniporme ng pulis.
“Such actions are clear violations of the law that could even mislead the public, as he emphasized that impersonating law enforcement personnel, even for entertainment purposes, carries serious legal consequences,” ayon kay Nartatez sa isang pahayag.
“The uniform represents the authority of the state and the sacrifice of every officer. The police uniform is a symbol of public service at authority. This must never be used for social media content and publicity stunts. Respect for the uniform is respect for the law,” diin niya.
Mas maaga ngayong linggo, kumalat online ang larawan ng isang vlogger na nakasuot umano ng ceremonial blue police uniform ng PNP.
Noong Miyerkules, sinabi ng PNP na nagsimula na ito ng imbestigasyon sa naturang larawan. Maaari umanong managot ang vlogger sa paglabag sa Article 179 ng Revised Penal Code na tumutukoy sa ilegal na paggamit ng uniporme o insignia.
“We are taking this matter seriously, we are now conducting an investigation on this matter to determine accountability and to send a message that there are consequences for the unauthorized use of police uniforms,” sabi ni Nartatez.
Depensa naman ng vlogger sa isang video sa social media, hindi siya kailanman nagsuot ng uniporme ng pulis at iginiit niyang edited ang kumakalat na larawan.
Ayon pa sa PNP chief, “We are aware that in today’s digital age, AI (artificial intelligence) technology can be misused to create misleading images or videos, including ones that could impersonate police officers.”
“We urge everyone to verify content before sharing because disinformation undermines public trust and safety,” dagdag niya.
Sinabi ng Anti-Cybercrime Group noong Miyerkules na ibe-verify nito kung tunay ang kumakalat na larawan.
Samantala, nagpahayag ng pagkadismaya ang National Police Commission (Napolcom) sa naturang larawan at nangakong magsasampa ng kasong kriminal laban sa content creator. RNT/MND
