MANILA, Philippines – Susuriin ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang mga imported luxury cars na pag-aari ng mga Discaya, na kamakailan ay iniugnay sa kontrobersyal na flood-control projects, ayon kay Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno.
Sinabi ni Nepomuceno na ang pagsisiyasat sa mga mamahaling sasakyan na nakaimbak sa mga komersyal na establisyimento, ay maaaring magawa sa pamamagitan ng isang Letter of Authority (LOA), ngunit hindi ito ang kaso para sa mga tirahan.
“Since the information has been opened, I will look into it immediately. You can be confident. However, the power of the BOC through me, the LOA, I can use immediately when it comes to commercial establishments or warehouses,” paliwanag ni Nepomuceno.
“However, if it’s already a residential area or a house, we need a court order there. We’ll look into it […] In fact, last week, we talked about it. But it’s not just Discayas. I’m looking at what’s on social media. Those are clues. It’s not just them. If we can backwards to see where those came from… But you can be assured that we’ll take action on that,” aniya.
Nauna rito, iginiit ni Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto na ang Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp. at St. Timothy Construction Corporation ang dalawa sa 15 contractor firm na nakatanggap ng karamihan sa flood control projects mula sa gobyerno na pag-aari ng mga Discaya, ang pamilya ng kanyang karibal noong 2025 elections na si Sarah Discaya.
Inilabas ni Sotto ang pahayag ilang sandali matapos ipresenta ni Marcos ang listahan ng 15 kontratista na nakatanggap ng P100 bilyon—humigit-kumulang 20 porsiyento ng kabuuang P545-bilyong badyet para sa mga proyektong panlaban sa baha sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon mula Hulyo 2022 hanggang Mayo 2025.
