MANILA, Philippines – Namumuhunan na ang ilang bansa sa Luzon Economic Corridor project, na inaasahang magpapataas sa global status ng Pilipinas, ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Sa panayam ni Chang Dae-hwan, chairman g Maekyung Media Group ng South Korea, sinabi ni Marcos na tututukan ng proyekto ang key infrastructure katulad ng mga pantalan, riles ng tren, clean energy, at semiconductor supply chain na magkokonekta sa Subic Bay sa Zambales, Clark sa Pampanga, Manila, at Batangas.
Partikular niyang binanggit ang nagpapatuloy na development sa Clark City, na mahalaga para sa Luzon Economic Corridor, na naging isang attractive destination para sa foreign investments dahil sa pagtatayo ng Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone.
“I expect it to be mostly American companies,” sinabi ng Pangulo.
“They have come in, and I like to think that the reason for that is because we have set up the system that’s attractive for their investment. And so, we’ll continue to [do] that and will be able to do even better if the [Luzon Economic] corridor is completed, and the travel times and the cost of travel of transport will be brought down.”
Ipinunto rin niya na ang ecozones ay nag-aalok ng iisang tax code at incentive scheme. Hindi na kailangan ng locator companies na makipag-usap sa bawat lokal na pamahalaan.
Sinabi pa ni Marcos na ang ecozones din ay bukas sa lahat ng investor na naghahanap ng special incentives at special tax breaks.
“We have right now economic zones where anyone can participate,” ani Marcos.
“It’s not specifically only for Korea, only for one industry… but it’s open for everyone and what it provides. It provides a place where there are special incentives, special tax breaks specially tariffs on importation, sales tax because they don’t sell into the country.”
Ibinahagi rin ni Marcos na ang special zones ng Pilipinas ay naging matagumpay. Inaasahan itong magdadala ng mas marami pang tagumpay sa bansa. RNT/JGC
