MANILA, Philippines- Sinabi ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) nitong Miyerkules na walang katotohanan ang pahayag ng communist movement na umiiral pa rin ang Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG).
Inihayag ito ng Legal Cooperation Cluster ng body matapos sabihin ang mga grupo na lumabag ang pag-aresto kamakailan sa tatlong ranking officials ng Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) sa JASIG.
“It is worthy to emphasize that the Philippine government validly terminated the JASIG on Feb, 7, 2017 by serving a written notice of termination thereof, following the numerous violations committed by the CPP-NPA by employing violence, including killings and assaults,” dagdag nito.
Sinabi nitong ginawa ng law enforcement agencies ang mga pag-aresto sa bisa ng standing warrants of arrest na ipinalabas ng mga korte.
“To iterate, while the now-terminated JASIG grants peace talks negotiators and consultants with immunity from arrest, this shall not cover acts which are contrary to the purposes of, and beyond their involvement in, the peace negotiations,” ayon sa NTF-ELCAC LCC.
Sinabi rin nitong bagama’t nilalayon ng JASIG na magkaroon ng tiwala at kumpiyansa sa peace process, hindi nito nais na balewalain ang criminal justice system ng bansa.
“The JASIG’s purpose was to foster dialogue, not to provide a sanctuary for individuals committing heinous crimes. We urge the public to be vigilant against the deceit of unscrupulous individuals whose goal is to sow fear and foster distrust to our duly constituted authorities.
