MANILA, Philippines – Tinapos na ng House of Representatives nitong Miyerkules ang plenary deliberations sa panukalang P10.16-bilyong budget ng Office of the President (OP) para sa 2027.
Ayon kay House Appropriations Committee Senior Vice Chairperson at Bataan Rep. Albert Garcia, na nagsilbing budget sponsor, malaking bahagi ng pondo ng OP ay para sa operasyon, kabilang ang P7.46 bilyon para sa maintenance and other operating expenses (MOOE).
“This is an office that tightened its own belt before asking our people or any agency,” ani Garcia.
Mas mababa ng 64.02% ang panukalang budget kumpara sa P28.03-bilyong alokasyon ng OP ngayong 2026, pangunahin dahil sa pagtatapos ng mga locally funded project na may kaugnayan sa pagho-host ng Pilipinas sa ASEAN 2026. Kahit hindi isama ang ASEAN-related expenses, nabawasan din ng P392.52 milyon o 3.75% ang pondo para sa regular programs ng OP.
Tinapos din ng Kamara ang deliberasyon sa P2.62-bilyong proposed budget ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) at attached agencies nito, na itinaguyod sa plenaryo ni Mandaluyong City Rep. Alexandria Gonzales.
Ayon kay Gonzales, gagamitin ang pondo upang suportahan ang mabilis, tama at accessible na paghahatid ng impormasyon tungkol sa mga polisiya, programa at serbisyo ng pamahalaan, lalo na sa gitna ng mabilis na pagkalat ng misinformation, manipulated content at AI-generated materials sa social media.
“The PCO plays a vital role in ensuring that the Filipino people receive timely, accurate, accessible, and responsible information on government policies, programs and services,” ani Gonzales.
Inaprubahan din ng Kamara ang P851.39-milyong proposed budget ng Presidential Management Staff (PMS) para sa 2027, kung saan si Garcia rin ang nagsilbing budget sponsor. RNT
