Hiniling ni Las Pinas Rep Camille Villar sa kanyang mga kapwa mambabatas na suportahan at ipasa ang kanyang panukala na bumuo ng P10 billion cancer fund at free medicine assistance program para sa mga mahihirap na pasyente.
Ipaliwanag ni Villar na ang mortality rate ng sakit na cancer sa Pilipinas ay patuloy na tumataas kada taon kaya naman malaki ang pangangailangan na mayroong pondo para matulungan ang mga mahihirap na tinamaan ng ganitong sakit.
“Considering that one of the goals of the national economy is a more equitable distribution of opportunities and raising the quality of life for all, especially the underprivileged, it is high time that those who have less in life be given the lifeline to fight the cancer disease despite their lack of resources,” pahayag ni Villar sa kanyang inihaing House Bill No. 5686.
Ang cancer ang ikatlong sanhi ng pagkamatay sa bansa, batay sa datos ay 4 kada oras o 103 kada araw ang namamatay ulot ng cancer atb nasa 189 sa kada 100,000 Pinoy ang apektado ng cancer kabilang na ang lung, liver, breast, colon at leukemia.
Sinabi ni Villar na lubhang mabigat ang gamutan sa cancer na kinabibilangan ng chemotherapy at radiation at mahal din ang MRI at iba pang mga gamot.
“This is why cancer has gained a reputation as the disease for the rich. The painful truth is that it can afflict anybody, regardless of economic status,” ani Villar.
Ipinapanukala ni Villar na mag-establisa ng cancer treatment program ang Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)
para sa mga indigent at underprivileged cancer patient beneficiaries na tutukuyin ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD),Department of Health (DOH) at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Sa ilalim ng HBN 5686 ay isinusulong ni Villar na idagdag ang P10 B cancer treatment program sa budget ng DOH.
“Ang kalusugan ng bawat Pilipino, lalo na ang mga mahihirap, ay responsibilidad ng pamahalaan. Alam nating lahat kung gaano kamahal ang mga gamot at treatment para sa cancer. Kung pati ang mayayaman ay uma-aray sa presyo ng mga gamot at treatment, paano pa kaya ang mga mahihirap nating kababayan? The immediate approval of HBN 5686 and the establishment of the proposed cancer treatment program would give indigent and underprivileged cancer patients the fighting chance to survive this health menace,” pagtatapos pa ni Villar.
