MANILA, Philippines – Opisyal nang naabisuhan ng Nationalist People’s Coalition si suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo na pinatalsik na ito mula sa Partido kasunod ng desisyon ng chairman nitong si Vicente Sotto III.
Si Guo ay nahaharap ngayon sa graft at human trafficking case, na inakusahan dahil sa kaugnayan nito sa illegal Philippine Offshore Gambling Operators at kakulangan ng Filipino citizenship na kailangan para sa pagkakaroon ng pwesto sa gobyerno.
“Pursuant to the attached order dated 22 June 2024 of NPC Chairperson and former Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III, the undersigned hereby informs you that you have been removed from the NPC’s roster of members effective immediately,” saad sa liham ni NPC Secretary-General Mark Llandro Mendoza na may petsang Hunyo 23.
Ang mga kontrobersiya na kinaharap ni Guo katulad ng pagkakaugnay nito sa human trafficking at money laundering sangkot ang Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) sa kanyang bayan ay hindi lamang naglagay sa alanganin ang integridad ng alkalde kundi ang paglabag sa core values at sworn duties.
“Despite calls from various sectors, your adamant refusal and failure to provide concrete and compelling evidence to disprove the damaging accusations against you, created serious doubts which the NPC has determined to be detrimental to its interests and time-honored principles,” ani Mendoza.
Ayon sa opisyal ng NPC, hindi kukunsintihin ng Partido ang “dishonest and predominantly deceitful conduct ni Guo.”
“Thus, the national leadership of the NPC has officially decided to remove you from its roster of members and sever all political ties with you,” sinabi ni Mendoza.
Tinanggap ni Sotto ang rekomendasyon ni Tarlac Gov. Susan Yap — chair ng provincial NPC chapter — na alisin si Guo sa kanyang membership dahil siya ay “not presented compelling evidence which would disprove” sa kaugnayan umano nito sa illegal gambling operations sa Bamban.
“The NPC will not tolerate any unlawful acts or any appearance of impropriety by its members that will undermine the principle of our party,” sinabi ni Sotto sa kanyang tugon sa rekomendasyon ni Yap na may petsang Hunyo 22, 2024. RNT/JGC
