MANILA, Philippines – Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na tapyasan ng 50% ang halaga ng construction materials para sa infrastructure projects.
Layon nito na tiyakin ang tamang paggamit ng public funds.
Ipinahayag ito ng Pangulo, araw ng Sabado sa kanyang departure speech sa Villamor Air Base sa Pasay City bago lumipad patungong Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia para sa 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits.
Sinabi nito na natuklasan ng DPWH na ang presyo sa ilang materyales kabilang na ang aspalto, steel bars, at semento ay overpriced, tumaas ng hanggang 50 porsiyento.
“Actually, there are some egregious examples where it’s even more than that,” ayon sa Pangulo.
“In order to ensure that the costs of DPWH will reflect the costs of the market and to ensure that the people’s money is correctly spent, I have directed the DPWH Secretary to bring down the cost of materials by as much as 50 percent, which will result in savings in the capital outlay spending of at least P30 to P45 billion,” aniya pa rin.
Kamakailan, sinabi ni DPWH Secretaty Vince Dizon na plano ng kanyang departamento na bawasan ang presyo ng mga materyales para sa mga proyekto bawat rehion dahil sa may nakita sila na overpriced. (KRIS JOSE)
