MANILA, Philippines – Simula bukas, Hulyo 14, ay gagamit na ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ng advanced underwater equipment para palakasin ang paghahanap sa labi ng mga nawawalang sabungero sa Taal Lake sa Batangas.
Sa panayam, sinabi ni PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab na ang remotely operated vehicle (ROV) ay gagamitin sa ilalim ng Taal Lake simula Lunes ng umaga.
“We will be expecting it to arrive at our staging area by 9 a.m. and we can start utilizing our ROV,” ani Cayabyab.
“This is one of the equipment we will use to see underwater. We can see that the problem that is becoming more serious is the muddy and murky water,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Cayabyab, ang ROV ay may kapasidad na tumingin sa ilalim ng tubig ng hanggang 1,000 talampakan at kayang makapagbuhat ng mga bagay, katulad ng mga sako, na tumitimbang ng 10 kilo hanggang 12 kilo.
“It has a clamp that, when it sees an object that we can use to be part of the evidence, it can bring it up,” paliwanag ng PCG spokesperson.
“So we will lower the ROV and we will have an operator monitoring it. So if it sees (an object), it can pick it up. And once we receive the go signal, then we can raise it to the surface,” ipinunto pa niya.
Ani Cayabyab, ang ROV, na ginamit ng PCG sa mga nakalipas na search and rescue operations, ay isang kapaki-pakinabang na gamit upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng PCG technical divers lalo na’t ang Taal Lake ay malawak at malalim.
Samantala, sinabi rin ng opisyal na bagamat gagamitin ang ROV, magpapatuloy ang diving operations ng mga tauhan ng PCG “until we see any items or suspicious materials that can help in this case.”
Sa ngayon, mayroong mahigit 40 tauhan ng PCG ang naka-deploy para sa diving operations.
“We are at full force now… We are conducting the relieving, the sectioning of our divers as they conduct their dives,” sinabi ni Cayabyab.
Bukod sa ROV, gumagamit din ngayon ang PCG ng unmanned aerial vehicle, o drone, para imonitor ang mga lugar sa Taal Lake.
“It’s supporting us to conduct the aerial survey. So we have underwater and we also have aerial survey, in addition to the technical divers who are deployed now.”
Mula nang simulan ng ahensya ang search operation noong Huwebes, mayroon nang limang sako ang narekober sa Taal Lake.
