, Philippines- Nagsagawa ang Philippine at United States naval ships ng panibagong “maritime cooperative activity” (MCA) sa West Philippine Sea (WPS) nitong Miyerkules ng hapon.
“These joint exercises with our ally are crucial in enhancing our naval capabilities and ensuring that we can effectively collaborate to safeguard our maritime interests. The partnership between the PN and the USN continues to be a pillar of regional stability,” pahayag ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. nitong Miyerkules.
Ayon pa kay Brawner, binibigyang-diin ng “successful execution” ng maritime exercises nito ang maigting na defense ties sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at United States at commitment ng dalawang bansa sa pagpapanatili ng freedom of navigation at rules-based order sa Indo-Pacific Region.
Nakilahok sa nasabing aktibidad ang offshore patrol vessel ng Philippine Navy (PN), ang BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16), at littoral combat ship ng US Navy (USN), ang USS Mobile (LCS-26).
Isinagawa ito sa loob ng Philippine exclusive economic zone, sa katubigan sa kanluran ng Palawan.
Samantala, inilahad ni AFP public affairs office chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad na natapos ang MCA ng alas-6 ng hapon.
“No Chinese vessel was detected in the exercise area, both by visual and radar monitoring,” wika ng opisyal.
Binubuo ang MCA ng serye ng mga pagsasanay na naglalayong paghusayin ang komunikasyon at operational coordination sa pagitan ng dalawang navies.
Kabilang sa mga aktibidad ang communications check exercise, division tactics, officer of the watch maneuver exercise, photographic exercise, at cross deck exercise.
“The primary objective of this activity is to strengthen the interoperability and cooperative capabilities of the PN and the USN,” ani Trinidad aid.
Dagdag niya, nilalayon din ng mga aktibidad na ito na paghusayin ang kahandaan ng dalawang navies sa pagtutulungan sa pagtitiyak sa maritime security at katatagan sa rehiyon.
