VATICAN – “It’s OK to make fun of God as long as the joke is not offensive.”
Ito ang pahayag ni Pope Francis nitong Biyernes, Hunyo 14 sa special audience niyang nasa 100 komedyante, aktor at mga manunulat sa buong mundo.
Kabilang sa mga nakaharap ni Pope Francis sa Vatican ay sina U.S. showbiz celebrities Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien, Chris Rock at Stephen Colbert.
Karamihan sa mga guest ni Pope Francis ay mga Italians.
“Can we also laugh at God? Of course, it’s not blasphemy, we can, just as we play and joke with the people we love,” ani Francis.
“Humour does not offend, humiliate, or put people down according to their flaws holding up Jewish wisdom and literary tradition” bilang halimbawa ng magandang comedy.
Ang pahayag ng Santo Papa ay kasunod ng kritisismo sa kanya dahil sa paggamit ng mga nakakainsultong salita sa LGBT community.
“What I am saying now is not heresy: when you manage to draw knowing smiles from the lips of even one spectator, you also make God smile,” ani Francis.
Matapos ang speech ay binati ni Pope Francis ang mga kalahok at nagbiro pa sa mga ito.
