MANILA, Philippines – Arestado ang isang pulis mula sa Davao City, at nahaharap din sa pagkatanggal sa serbisyo matapos na magpaputok ng baril sa isang binyag, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP).
Ang insidente ay nag-ugat sa hindi pagkakaunawaan sa pagitan ng pulis at isa pang bisita sa okasyon, saad sa pahayag ng Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
“He’s been arrested, and we will not tolerate that. He will be removed from the service, definitely,” pahayag ni PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III sa panayam ng DZMM nitong Miyerkules, Hunyo 18.
“He is already a dead man walking in terms of service in the PNP,” giit ni Torre.
Ang pamamaril ay nangyari nitong Linggo ng gabi sa Barangay Los Amigos sa Tugbok district.
“Initial investigation revealed that the officer fired his issued firearm toward the ground following a misunderstanding with another guest, causing panic and distress among the attendees,” idinetalye ng DCPO.
Sinabi pa ng Davao City police na naghain na ito ng criminal charges laban sa police officer “for discharging the firearm without authorization” na paglabag sa Articles 155 (alarms and scandal) at 254 (discharge of firearms) ng Revised Penal Code.
Inalis na rin sa pwesto ang pulis at dinisarmahan habang nagpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon. RNT/JGC
