MANILA, Philippines- Itinalaga si Sen. Robin Padilla bilang bagong presidente ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).
Inanunsyo ito ng partido nitong Miyerkules ng umaga, at sinabing naupo na sa pwesto si Padilla.
Pinalitan ni Padilla si Palawan Second District Rep. Jose Chaves Alvarez, na nagbitiw sa posisyon.
“As the new PDP president, Sen. Padilla will continue to consolidate the party membership and prepare for the 2025 mid-term elections which Rep. Alvarez started,” pahayag ng PDP.
“We are confident that under Sen Padilla’s leadership, the party is in good hands and will continue to be a major force for reform and development in the country,” dagdag nito.
Nauna nang sinabi ng senador na tatanggapin lamang niya ang posisyon kung makagagawa siya ng “good things and help [his] fellow Filipinos.”
“Pero syempre po, hindi po ibig sabihin naman na wala akong mga bagong ipapanukala. Kung ito po ay tatanggapin ko, meron po syempre akong mga bagong ipapanukala sa PDP,” patuloy niya. RNT/SA
