MANILA, Philippines – Nag-isyu ang Senado ng arrest order laban kay suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo dahil sa paulit-ulit na pag-isnab sa imbestigasyon ng Mataas na Kapulungan sa nilusob na POGO hub sa kanyang bayan.
Ipinag-utos din ang pag-aresto kina Dennis Lacson Cunanan, Nancy Jimenez Gamo, at ang mga kaanak umano ng alcalde na sina Sheila Leal Guo, Wesley Leal Guo, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen L. Guo, at Wenyi Lin.
Ang mga kautusan ay inisyu noong Hulyo 11 ni Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality chairperson Senator Risa Hontiveros at inaprubahan ni Senate President Francis Escudero.
Ipinag-utos si Guo na arestuhin at i-detain sa Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms ng Senado “until such time that she will appear and testify in the Committee, or otherwise purges herself of that contempt.”
Matatandaan na ipinanawagan ni Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada ang pag-iisyu ng arrest order laban kay Guo.
Sinegundahan din ito ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian na i-contempt si Guo kasama ng mga kaanak nito inisyuhan ng mga subpoena, particular na ang kanyang amang si Jian Zhong Guo, suspected biological mother na si Wen Yi Lin, at mga kapatid na sina Seimen, Wesley, at Shiela.
Bukod kay Guo, ipina-cite in contempt din sina
Dennis Cunanan at Nancy Gamo.
The arrest order was issued against Guo for “unduly refusing to appear, despite due notices, at the hearings of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality on June 26, 2024 and July 10, 2024, and thereby delaying, impeding and obstructing the inquiry into the reported violation of human trafficking, serious illegal detention, and physical abuse and torture in the premises of an internet gaming licensee of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp and other related resolutions.”
Hindi pa umano natatanggap ng kampo ni Guo ang kautusan.
“As we already filed a Petition before the Supreme Court, we are hoping that the Court will give due course to our Petition considering this supervening issuance of Order of Arrest,” ayon sa abogado ng alkaldeng si Atty. Nicole Jamilla.
Kamakailan ay sinabi rin ng isa pang abogado ni Guo na si Atty. Stephen David na ayaw nang dumalo ng alkalde matapos ma-trauma sa Senate hearing.
“We are always aware of the consequences of her failure to attend the Senate hearings. However, considering her Physical and Mental Health condition and the trauma she had in so massive cyber bullying and humiliation, she is not really capable of attending Senate hearings at the moment. Hopefully, when her condition will improve, we will see her again during hearings,” ayon kay David.
Nagdeploy na ang Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) ng apat na team nitong Sabado ng umaga, Hulyo 13 para isilbi ang arrest orders laban kay Guo at pito iba pang indibidwal.
Binigyan ang OSAA ng 24 na oras para isilbi ang arrest order at i-detain ang walong indibidwal sa opisina hanggang sa lumantad ang mga ito at tumestigo sa komite. RNT/JGC
