MANILA, Philippines – Nagpapatuloy ang usapan ng Pilipinas at United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) sa pagbuo ng framework na makatutulong sa mga bansa, kabilang ang Pilipinas na makahikayat ng mas marami pang foreign investments sa kani-kanilang tourism destinations.
Ayon kay Secretary Christina Frasco, nagsimula na ang usapan at umaasa ang Department of Tourism (DOT) na mailalabas na ang dokumento sa pagtatapos ng 2024.
“The UN Tourism has a specific template that they provide expert guidance to countries. So, this will be a measure that we will be working on with UN Tourism,” ani Frasco sa panayam sa pagtatapos ng 36th Joint Commission Meeting ng Commission for East Asia and the Pacific at Commission for South Asia (CAP-CSA).
“We hope to be able to produce it, if not this year, then next year, because we are eager for more tourism investments in the country, especially as this is the priority of our President,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa tourism investment guidelines, matutulungan ang Pilipinas na palawakin pa ang room keys, mapabuti ang tourism infrastructure at magbukas ng mas marami pang oportunidad sa tourism value chain.
Naghahanda rin ang DOT ng isang Philippine Hotel Industry Strategic Action Plan na sasakop sa accommodation standards, skills matching, digitalization at strategic investments sa destinations sa bansa. RNT/JGC
