MANILA, Philippines – Sinimulan ngayong Oktubre 13 ang public panel interview ng Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) para sa posisyon ng Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice na mababakante sa pagreretiro ni Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier sa Nobyembre 16, 2026.
Ayon kay SC spokesperson Atty. Camille Sue Mae Ting, may 19 na aplikante para sa posisyon, ngunit walo na lamang ang isasailalim sa panel interview.
Naunang sumalang sa panayam ang 11 aplikante na dati nang nag-apply sa parehong posisyon matapos ang mandatory retirement ni dating Justice Mario Lopez.
Apat na aplikante ang nakatakdang sumalang sa public interview ngayong Oktubre 13. Kabilang dito si Deputy Immigration Commissioner Aldwin Alegre, na unang ininterbyu, na susundan nina Legal Education Board Chairperson Jason Barlis, Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Faith Econg, at Court of Appeals Associate Justice Lily Biton.
Pinangunahan nina Batangas 2nd District Representative Gerville Luistro, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida, dating Associate Justice Jose Mendoza, at Associate Justice Erlinda Pinera Uy ang panel interview.
Samantala, nakatakdang sumalang sa panayam sa Oktubre 15, 2026 sina Commission on Audit Chairperson Gamaliel Cordoba, Government Corporate Counsel Solomon Mateo Hermosura, Atty. German Quintos Lichauco II, at Commission on Elections Commissioner Ernesto Maceda Jr. Jocelyn Tabangcura-Domenden
