MANILA, Philippines – Nagsimula na ang Department of Energy (DOE) nitong Lunes, Oktubre 14 sa two-day mission nito sa Saudi Arabia para pumirma ng kasunduan sa energy sector.
Pinangunahan ni Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla ang delegasyon ng Pilipinas patungo sa Saudi Arabia sa misyon na tatagal hanggang bukas, Oktubre 15.
Sa DOE mission, pipirma ng memorandum of understanding (MOU) sina Lotilla at Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salam Al Saud.
Ang MOU na ito ay pinasimulan ni Lotilla sa kanyang pagiging energy chief noong 2005.
“After 19 years, I am pleased to see the successful conclusion of our negotiations,” ayon sa DOE chief.
Layon ng MOU na palakasin ang kooperasyon ng dalawang bansa sa mas malinis at mas sustainable energy sources, Lalo na sa pagbuo at deployment ng low-carbon technologies.
“This could include joint research and development projects, policy exchange, and capacity building in areas such as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and hydrogen,” saad sa pahayag ng DOE.
Ang energy mission sa naturang bansa ay offshoot ng partisipasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa inaugural Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit sa Saudi Arabia noong Oktubre 2023. RNT/JGC
