MANILA, Philippines – Dumating sa Pilipinas ang panibagong 223 Pilipino mula Middle East nitong Huwebes sa tulong ng Department of Migrant Workers at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Sa bilang na ito, 147 ay overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) mula Kuwait sakay ng Gulf Air flight GF154. Nauna namang dumating ang 45 OFWs at 15 dependents mula Dubai, UAE sakay ng Emirates flights EK 330 at 336.
May dumating din na 15 OFWs at isang independent mula Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Ayon sa DMW, umabot na sa 6,785 ang kabuuang government-funded repatriations hanggang alas-1 ng hapon ng Huwebes—kabilang ang 5,409 OFWs at 1,376 dependents.
“A total of 7,408 OFWs and their dependents have returned to the country from March 5, 2026 to April 23, 2026, due to the ongoing unrest in the Middle East. Of this number, 6,785 underwent government-funded repatriation, including 5,409 OFWs and 1,376 dependents,” ayon sa pahayag ng DMW.
Dagdag pa ng ahensya, “They were immediately provided with financial assistance, transportation, temporary shelter, and reintegration support under the National Reintegration Network.”
Isinagawa ang repatriation dahil sa patuloy na tensyon sa Middle East, kung saan mahigit dalawang milyong Pilipino ang nagtatrabaho. Inaasahan pa ang pagdating ng mas maraming OFWs sa mga susunod na araw mula Kuwait, Qatar, at Dubai. RNT/MND
