MANILA, Philippines – Narekober ng mga tropa ng pamahalaan ang nasa 295 granada na mula sa arms cache na pinaniniwalaang itinago ng mga remnant ng Dawlah Islamiya-Maute Group (DI-MG) sa bulubunduking bahagi ng Lanao del Sur.
Ayon kay Maj. Gen. Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr., 1st Infantry Division commander, nadiskubre ng mga tropa ng Army 55th Infantry Battalion (55IB) ang cache nitong Miyerkules, Marso 11 sa Barangay Piagolongan, Marogong, Lanao del Sur.
“The sheer volume of explosives recovered—nearly 300 hand grenades in a single cache—represents a significant blow to the operational capacity of the threat group in the area,” saad sa pahayag ni Barroquillo.
“Their removal from circulation directly translates to lives protected, communities secured, and the prevention of potential mass casualty attacks,” dagdag pa niya.
May malaking ambag ang komunidad sa kanilang kooperasyon at pagtitiwala para madiskubre at marekober ang cache.
“This act of civic courage reflects a meaningful shift in the communities of Lanao del Sur towards a growing preference for peace over the presence of instruments of conflict in their midst,” dagdag pa.
