Ipinagmalaki ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na mayroong nakaantabay na mahigit sa dalawang (2) milyong kahon ng family food packs (FFPs) ang ahensya sakaling kailanganin ng mga local governments units (LGUs) para sa disaster and response operations.
Sinabi ni Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) at Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, ang dalawang milyong kahon ng FFPs ay naka-preposition sa iba’t-ibang DSWD warehouses sa bansa.
“The FFPs are continuously being produced to ensure availability of relief goods whenever a disaster or emergency occurs,” sabi ni Asst. Secretary Dumlao.
Ayon sa pinakahuling ulat mula sa Disaster Response Operations Management, Information and Communication (DROMIC), mayroong mahigit sa 200,000 kahon ng FFPs ang nakalagak sa DSWD National Resource Operations Center (NROC) sa Pasay City.
Nabatid na sa Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) sa Mandaue City, Cebu naman nakaimbak ang may 247,765 FFPs. Ang mga ito ay nakahandang i-distribute sa mga LGUs sakaling kailanganin.
Kaugnay nito bukod naman sa NROC at VDRC, mayroon ding mga iba pang storage facilities ang DSWD sa iba’t-ibang rehiyon na naglalaman din ng mga naka-preposition na FFPs at handang tumugon sa pangangailangan ng LGUs sa panahon ng kalamidad.
“We reiterate that disaster preparation in the DSWD is year-round. The replenishment of FFPs is part of the proactive measure being taken by the DSWD. We always ensure that there are enough FFPs especially that our disaster response for Super Typhoon Julian, Mt. Kanlaon eruption, and other recent calamities is still ongoing,”paliwanag pa ng DSWD spokesperson. (Santi Celario)
