MANILA, Philippines – IDINEKLARA ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang buwan ng Hulyo bilang Philippine Agriculturists’ Month bilang pagkilala at pagdakila sa dedikasyon ng mga agriculturists at itaas ang kamalayan ng kahalagahan ng agricultural sector.
“The celebration of the Philippine Agriculturists’ Month will engage professional agriculturists in agricultural advocacy, policy research and formulation and provide an avenue for enterprise-building, communications training, and community development,” ang nakasaad sa Proclamation No. 544, nilagdaan ni Pangulong Marcos nito lamang Mayo 10.
Mababasa rin sa proklamasyon ang naging ambag ng mga agriculturists at binigyang-diin ang kanilang importansiya sa pamamagitan ng “dedicated month” na “will honor their hard work and dedication, and raise awareness about the significance of the agricultural sector in enhancing nationwide agricultural productivity and competitiveness.”
Ayon sa proklamasyon, “The Manila School of Agriculture, established in July 1989, will provide theoretical and practical education to skilled farmers and overseers, and promote agricultural development in the Philippines by means of observation, experiment and investigation towards deeper awareness and understanding of Philippine agriculture, thereby paving the way for agriculture to formally become an educational course in the Philippines.”
Samantala, ang Department of Agriculture (DA) at ang Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) at Board of Agriculture nito ay inatasan na pangunahan, makipag-ugnayan at pangasiwaan ang pagdiriwang ng Philippine Agriculturists’ Month at tukuyin ang mga programa, aktibidad at proyekto para sa taunang selebrasyon.
Sinabi pa rin ng proklamasyon na ang lahat ng ahensiya at instrumentalities ng national government kabilang na ang government-owned or -controlled corporations, government financial institutions, state universities and colleges at maging ang local government units at pribadong sektor ay sinabihan at hinikayat na magbigay ng kinakailangang suporta at tulong.
