MANILA, Philippines – Nagpahayag ng suporta ang Commission on Human Rights sa panukalang batas na naglalayong protektahan ang Karapatan ng mga babaeng persons deprived of liberty o PDL.
“As the country’s independent national human rights institution, we recognize the distinct needs of these women, particularly as mothers, and emphasize the importance of providing the necessary services and interventions to support them,” sinabi ng CHR.
Binibigyang mandato ng House Bill 402 ang mga deprived women ng Karapatan sa healthcare, Karapatan na manatili sa kanilang mga sanggol na anak sa infirmaries, karapatan laban sa parusa ng close confinement o disciplinary segregation, karapatan sa edukasyon at impormasyon, at karapatan sa legal assistance sa paghahain ng reklamo.
“The Commission hopes that this initiative will pave the way for the implementation of more policies and initiatives that will be beneficial to the welfare of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), while paying attention to the specific needs of women,” pagpapatuloy ng pahayag.
“We look forward to the passage of HB No. 402 in order to effectively protect and promote the rights of women deprived of liberty in line with international human rights standards,” dagdag niya.
