740 PDLs pinalaya ng BuCor

MANILA, Philippines- May kabuuang 740 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) ang pinalaya mula Agosto 31 hanggang Oktubre, base sa Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) nitong Martes.

Ayon sa BuCor, dinala nito ang kabuuang bilang ng PDLs na pinalaya sa ilalim ng administrasyong Marcos sa 16,657.

Batay sa datos mula sa BuCor, 459 sa PDLs ang pinakawalan dahil sa pagkapaso ng kanilang maximum sentence, 147 ang pinawalang-sala, 40 pinalaya sa probation, at 86 ang nabigyan ng parole. 

Samantala, 375 sa PDLs ang mula sa New Bilibid Prison, 61 mula sa Correctional Institution for Women, 106 mula sa Davao Prison and Penal Farm, 31 mula sa Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 21 mula sa Leyte Regional Prison, 41 mula sa Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, at 105 mula sa San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm.

“Each time we release a PDL, we are giving him or her a chance to embark on a new chapter in his or her life  and every release is more than just a statistic,” ani BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang.

“It is a story of resilience, hope and a chance to start a new life,” patuloy niya.
