MANILA, Philippines – Isang reklamo sa etika ang inihain nitong Huwebes laban kay Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros para sa umano’y pakikialam sa saksi, na sinabi niyang handa niyang pabulaanan ng mga resibo.
Ang reklamong inihain nina dating Congressman Jacinto Paras at ng mga abogado na sina Ferdinand Topacio at Manuelito Luna ay binanggit ang pahayag ng isang testigo ng Senado na binayaran daw siya ni Hontiveros ng P1 milyon para umano’y magsinungaling tungkol sa umano’y pang-aabuso ni Kingdom of Jesus Christ Leader Apollo Quiboloy at ang umano’y mga armas na natanggap mula sa kanya ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ang saksi, si Michael Maurillio, ay binawi ang kanyang mga pahayag noong Hunyo 2025.
Binanggit din sa reklamo ang pahayag ni Mark Clarence Manalo na sinuhulan daw siya ni Hontiveros sa pamamagitan ng isang aide para tumestigo laban sa Pharmally, ang pharmaceutical firm na nakakuha ng mga kontrata sa pandemya.
Ang pangatlong insidente na kasama sa reklamo ay ang sinasabing itinago ng senador ang tatlong bata na dapat sana ay saksi sa imbestigasyon ng Senado sa tinaguriang Kian delos Santos case.
“We respectfully allege that the above actions of Senator Hontiveros-Baraquel constitute ‘disorderly behavior,’ a subject proper for investigation by the Senate pursuant to Article VI, Section 16(3) of the 1987 Constitution,” ayon sa complaint.
“No less than the integrity of the Senate is at stake in this complaint where the ‘disorderly behavior’ of a senator is being raised and complained of,” dagdag nito.
Sinabi ni Topacio na si Hontiveros “has been getting away with so much for so long a time.”
“Pattern na po ito eh. Someone has to tell her, stop, hindi na tama ito,” aniya.
Idinagdag ni Paras, “Andito po kami kasi ang parating ginagamit ngayon na salita accountability, parating sinasabi ni Sen. Risa Hontiveros the Vice President should be accountable but dapat naman kung may offenses ka rin, allegations of offenses, you are also accountable.”
Ayon kay Hontiveros, handa siyang harapin ang reklamo, na inaasahang ire-refer sa Senate Committee on Ethics.
“Recycled lies, harassment. What else? I, on the other hand, will bravely face their complaint once I read it,” depensa ng senador.
Dagdag pa ni Sen. Risa, “So, whatever their reason, as long as there is an ethics complaint, as I mentioned, I will read it and deal with it fully.”
Sinagot din ng senadora ang tanong kung naabala ba siya sa mga ginawang aksyon ng mga abogado.
“Bothered in the sense that we have a lot of work to do here in the Senate. There are still dramas, but that’s okay, we won’t be distracted by that. As long as they file, we will read the complaint and deal with it in its entirety.”
Ayon sa mga abogado, maaaring kasuhan si Sen. Hontiveros ng “disorderly behavior” alinsunod sa Article VI, Section 16(3) ng 1987 Constitution na nagbibigay ng kapangyarihan sa Senado na parusahan ang sinumang miyembro ng kanilang ahensya.RNT/MND
