MANILA, Philippines – Irerekomenda ng House Ways and Means Committee sa Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council(LEDAC) ang panukala ni Batangas Rep Leandro Leviste na ibaba sa 10% ang value added tax mula sa dating 12%, ayon kay Marikina Rep Miro Quimbo.
Ayon kay Quimbo, mahalaga na matalakay ang House Bill 4302 o VAT Reduction Act of 2025 na inakda ni Leviste.
“We have also proposed that the matter be taken up at the LEDAC because I think it’s something very significant, something like this should be discussed at the highest level,” paliwanag ni Quimbo, Chairman ng House Ways and Means Committee.
Ang LEDAC ang council na na naglilista ng mga top priority bills ng administrasyon.
Sinabi ni Leviste na hinihingi nya ang suporta ng komite para sa pagbaba ng VAT.
“If we do not have a wealth tax to support the lowering of the VAT in the 20th Congress, then perhaps we can nonetheless lower the VAT and move that we instead slash government spending, particularly given the administration’s findings of significant wastage in the DPWH budget,” ani Leviste.
Ipinaliwanag ni Leviste na kung mababawasan ng P200 Billion ang pondo ng DPWH para suportahan ang pagbaba ng VAT ng 2 percent ay magreresulta ito sa P7,000 na dagdag na kita sa bawat pamilyang Filipino.
Nagpasalamat si Leviste sa suporta ng komite na pinamumunuan ni Quimbo, aniya, umaasa syang matatalakay ito bilang isa sa priority bills ng administrasyon upang agad nang maramdaman ng taumbayan.
