MANILA, Philippines – Nirerespeto ng tanggapan ni dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez ang paghahain ng reklamo ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) ng kaso sa Office of the Ombudsman kaugnay sa katiwalian sa flood control projects.
Sa pahayag ngayong umaga ni Atty. Ade Fajardo, abogado ni Romualdez, sinabi niyang bukas ang kaniyang kliyente sa Referral na inihain sa Ombudsman.
“We acknowledge the Referral submitted by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to the Office of the Ombudsman on November 21 and welcome the Commission’s completion of its fact-gathering mandate. We respect the ICI’s commitment to transmit all gathered evidence to the Office of the Ombudsman for further evaluation,” ayon kay Atty. Fajardo.
Sinabi rin ng abogado na nakapaloob sa Referral ang mga ebidensyang ipinakita at iprinisenta ni Romualdez nang humarap ito sa ICI noong October 14 gaya ng kaniyang sinumpaang salaysay, kumpletong transcripts, at ang buong audio-video recording.
Tinukoy din ng abogado ang naging pahayag ng ICI na ang Referral “is issued without any finding or conclusion of guilt or liability on the part of former Speaker Romualdez.”
Sinabi pa ng abogado na ang malinaw na pahayag na ito ng ICI ay lalong nagpapatatag sa tiwala ng kaniyang kliyente sa komisyon dahil ito ay impartial at nagpapatatag sa gampanin ng Ombudsman bilang pangunahing otoridad na magdetermina sa accountability.
