MANILA, Philippines – Napanatili ng Tropical Depression Verbena ang lakas nito habang kumikilos papalapit sa Negros Island.
Namataan ang sentro ng Tropical Depression sa coastal waters ng Pinamungahan, Cebu taglay ang lakas ng hangin na 55 kilometro kada oras at pagbugso na hanggang 90 kilometro kada oras.
Kumikilos ito sa direksyong northwestward sa bilis na 25 kilometro kada oras.
Alas-2:40 ng umaga ay nag-landfall ang bagyong Verbena sa Talisay, Cebu.
Kasabay nito ay itinaas ang Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 sa mga sumusunod na lugar:
Occidental Mindoro;
Oriental Mindoro;
Romblon;
the northern and central portions of Palawan (Araceli, Taytay, El Nido, Dumaran, Roxas, San Vicente, Puerto Princesa City) including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands;
mainland Masbate (Balud, Mandaon, Milagros, Cawayan, Placer, Pio V. Corpuz, Esperanza, Uson, Dimasalang, City of Masbate, Mobo, Palanas, Aroroy, Cataingan, Baleno);

Samantala, dahil sa shear line ay makararanas din ng malalakas na pag-ulan sa mga sumusunod na lugar:
Heavy to intense rains (100-200 mm) sa Quezon
Moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) sa Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Batangas, Rizal, at Laguna
Magdadala naman ng heavy to intense (100-200 mm) na pag-ulan ang bagyong Verbena sa Palawan, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, at Romblon
Moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) naman sa Biliran, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Leyte, Marinduque, Catanduanes, Masbate, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, at Camiguin.
“The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction,” ayon sa PAGASA.
Inaasahang tatawirin ng bagyong Verbena ang Visayas at hilagang bahagi ng Palawan ngayong araw bago lumabas sa West Philippine Sea bukas ng umaga.
Dadaanan nito ang hilagang bahagi ng Kalayaan Islands at lalabas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility sa Huwebes ng umaga. RNT/JGC
