MANILA, Philippines – Inilipat ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) sa Enero 2 sa susunod na taon ang pagpapatupad ng pag-i-impound ng mga electronic vehicles tulad ng e-bikes at e-trikes na mahuhuling bumibiyahe sa national highways.
Sa isang video statement nitong Linggo, sinabi ni LTO chief Markus Lacanilao na ipinagpaliban nila ang “strict enforcement” ng crackdown na dapat sana ay magsisimula ngayong Lunes, Disyembre 1.
Sa halip na agad kumpiskahin ang mga naturang sasakyan, magsasagawa muna ang LTO ng information drive para ipaalam sa mga may-ari na bawal pa rin silang bumibiyahe sa national roads.
“In response to public complaints, I would like to clarify that our President Bongbong Marcos and [acting Transportation] Secretary Giovanni Lopez have heard your concerns. Therefore, there will be no impounding operation for the time being while we implement a comprehensive information drive to give everyone enough time to understand and comply with the existing regulations,” saad ni Lacanilao.
“We will come out with guidelines and an information campaign to explain where LEVs (Light Electric Vehicles) are allowed to operate,” dagdag niya.
“Ultimately, the LTO has only one goal, not to inconvenience the public, but to ensure that our roads are safe, well-maintained, and with clear responsibilities for every user, including users of e-bikes, e-trikes, and other LEVs,” ani pa niya.
Kamakailan ay inanunsyo ni Lacanilao ang pag-ban sa e-bikes at e-trikes sa national highways dahil sa pagdami ng aksidente na kinasasangkutan ng mga electric vehicles. Ayon sa kanya, layunin nitong masigurado ang kaligtasan ng lahat sa kalsada. RNT/MND
