Nawalan ang gobyerno ng P6.45 bilyon noong 2024 dahil sa mahigit 700 na “hindi nagagamit o idle” na proyekto ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), ayon sa Commission on Audit (COA).
Ayon sa COA, 747 proyekto ang hindi sumunod sa kontrata dahil sa kakulangan sa superbisyon at teknikal na depekto, kaya hindi ligtas o nagagamit.
“The foregoing technical defects and deficiencies may compromise the safety of the public, cause further destruction of the infrastructures and ultimately result in the wastage of government funds and resources if not immediately addressed,” anila sa audit.
Natuklasan ang mga depektibong proyekto sa buong bansa, kabilang ang Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Western at Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, at Caraga.
Umabot ang pagkawala ng pondo mula sa maliliit na sira hanggang P3.46 bilyon sa Western Visayas at higit sa P2 bilyon sa Northern Mindanao.
Hinimok ng COA ang DPWH na agad ayusin o itama ang mga depekto at magsagawa ng regular na inspeksyon upang matiyak na sumusunod ang proyekto sa kontrata. RNT
