MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng isang opisyal ng National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) na dapat isaalang-alang sa mga susunod na pagpaplano ng Traslacion ang pagkamatay ng apat na katao at ang daan-daang nasugatan sa prusisyon ng Itim na Nazareno.
Ayon kay NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, may apat na naiulat na namatay sa Traslacion at lahat ng ito ay iniimbestigahan pa.
Ilan sa mga salik na nagdulot ng mga insidente ay ang napakaraming deboto na tinatayang umabot sa mahigit 9.3 milyon, at ang agresibong kilos ng ilang deboto para makalapit sa andas.
“The hundreds of injuries recorded and the three reported deaths which are now under investigation, are also seen as the result of these factors. These matters must be seriously taken into account in future similar celebrations,” ayon kay Aberin.
Nagpaabot din ng pakikiramay ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa pamilya ng isang photojournalist at tatlong deboto na nasawi sa prusisyon sa Maynila.
Sinabi ni Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. na ikinalungkot nila ang pagkumpirma sa ulat ng apat na nasawi, kabilang ang isang photojournalist na binawian ng buhay habang nagko-cover ng Traslacion.
“We are deeply saddened by these reports. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased. While the Traslacion was generally orderly, even a single loss of life is a serious matter for us,” saad ni Nartatez.
“This serves as a solemn reminder of the physical risks involved in massive gatherings, and we will further strengthen our crowd management, medical coordination, and safety measures in future events,” dagdag niya.
Bukod sa photojournalist, sinabi ni Aberin na ang iba pang nasawi ay isang 30-anyos na residente ng Binondo, isang 41-anyos na residente ng Sampaloc, Maynila, at isang hindi pa nakikilalang lalaki.
Sa kabila ng mga nasawi at nasugatan, sinabi ni Aberin na ang Traslacion 2026 ay maaari pa ring ituring na pangkalahatang mapayapa, ligtas, at maayos, dahil walang naitalang malaking krimen.
Mahigit 18,000 pulis ang ipinakalat sa iba’t ibang lugar.
“Our security preparations aptly addressed anticipated and prevailing security issues following the deployment of more than 18,000 policemen in all areas of engagement,” ani Aberin.
“Overall, the comprehensive yet flexible security coverage introduced by NCRPO, partner agencies and the Traslacion 2026’ organizers delivered positive and outstanding results considering the presence of significant challenges during the religious event,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/MND
